Pamela Meno: Usually at the pet stores, a hamster is around ten dollars. A metal cage, with a ferris whieel, water bottle, and food dish is usually around fifteen dollars and up. You can purchase an edible house for him and his food and wood chews at any Walmart. I buy a 4 pound bag of hamster food at walmart for around 4 dollars. The Syrian hamster is the most popular hamster breed and the largest in size. The females are a little larger than the males. You will probably get a better price deal at a small family owned pet store than you would at a commercial retail store such as Petco. I bought Buttons back in January! of this year, and the store was having hamster sale. They had baby hamsters at 3 months old, and a cage with hamsters at 4 months old. Butttons was $4.99 I researched online all about hamsters and their care. Buttons was hand fed his treats, and coming out to play in my living room in less than 3 weeks. He routinely wants to come out and play around 8:30 in the evening. He sits on his house, and sits up pretty like a squirrel, that is a sign that he uses to indicated to me that he wants me to open the sliding metal door at the top of his cage. When I see him sitting up, I know what he wants, but I always ask him if he wants to come out and play with daddy. When I say that to him, he instantly reaches up for the door with his front paws. I open the door and he climbs out on his own, and waits on his cage for me to pick him up. I do, and he gets petted, gets a few kisses, and he sits on my shoulder and we "go for a ride" which is a walk around the living room and my! vegetable plant room. Then, we go back to the living room an! d I get his toys for him while he is still on my shoulder. He has a large metal ferris wheel in back of my living room chair, toilet paper cardboard roll to play with, a ball, a ladder, and his piece of fruit wood to chew for his teeth. I place all of those on my cushioned chair, and he gets on his ferris wheel and plays. He also jumps onto the carpet and play in the living room whereas he attempts to climb up my curtains. He climbs about a foot or two, then lets go onto the carpet. He also like to climb onto my couch and play there. Hamster groom their fur continuously. They are very very clean. I know that you will enjoy your hamster. Cordially, Mr. Alan...Show more

Wilmer Skidmore: Cage should come with a bottle for your hamster and wood chips and food and a running wheel if it dose - 60$ depends on the cage if not.Food: 4-7$Wood chips: 2-3$Cage: 20-30$Playing wheel: 4-10$water bottle: (obviously made for hamsters) 4$Donuts: (special treats for them) 2-4$Be! dding: (I recommend a dome they love those) 9-10$Finally the hamster: 12-25$And remember not to wash your hamster or eles they could get wet tail buy volcano sand it's not a must to get this but they love rolling in it, it's like 14-20$ depends on the size of the bottle....Show more

King Bringle: Overall, plan for at least $100 or so initially.Cage - A good cage (at least 30" long x 12" wide) will range from $40 - several hundred dollars. If you're willing to do a little DIY work, you can make a bin cage for about $40. If not, a 20-gallon long aquarium + screen lid + cage clips will run around $60 - $70. While a 20-gallon long aquarium is sufficient, I strongly suggest getting something larger for a Syrian. Mine quickly outgrew her aquarium. A 40-gallon is a great choice, but it's pretty expensive (over $100 for the tank alone).Accessories - Around $30 or so. It's mostly little stuff.Water bottle - $4Ceramic food bowl - $2Wooden chews - $3Hideout - $58.5" solid wh! eel - $9Bedding - $10 for a month's supply of aspen. Paper beddings, l! ike Carefresh, are easily double that price. Aspen is fine...unless you or your hamster are allergic (many are).Food - $5 - $10 / month, depending on quality. However, it's better to pay a few extra dollars for good food than to pay vet fees for the problems a poor diet can cause.Hamster - Usually between $15 and $20, depending on the color.-Yeah, overall around $100, plus or minus. Oh, and this is if you get the absolute cheapest, crappiest (but still safe) stuff on the market. A $9 wheel (this is literally the only safe Syrian wheel available in stores: http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productI... ) is going to squeak like crazy and fall apart in a month. If you want a good, quiet wheel, you have to order online and be prepared to shell out $25+ for it....Show more

Irvin Guiles: about alittle over 100 dollars for everything you need

Tatiana Evanosky: All in total 100 quid depending ifyou get a decent cage

Launa Weingarten: it has be answere! d many times by all these people yet princess explained it in a long detail and AA explained it in a simplified short answer and here is the thing look back at your life, since you were a kid, till where you stand right now imagine your were ignorant all that you will lose from that time to this and to the future that is your cost, the cost of your ignorance ( not calling you ignorant, just making an example ) then think however of the gain of ignorance then compare both gains and YOU tell me which is the costly one...Show more
