Ulrike Hert: I don't think they ever said exactly how many best answers you need in a category to be a "top contributor." I suspect it varies from category to category depending on how popular the category is. Just pick a category that you're good in and answer A LOT of questions in that category and you, too, can be a "top contributor." Donât believe people when they say âjust answer 50 answers in 30 daysâ or stuff like that. Yahoo keeps it deliberately vague so they never promised an exact figure to anyone. It may, as I said, vary from category to category. However, I have a rough idea of how long it takes to become a top contributor because a friend of mine made it after she answered all her questions in only one (1) category for a month in order to earn that badge. She doesnât log on as often as I do so that only amounted to about 85 answers but she made it. She had a 30% âbest answer rating.âItâs been said somewhere here on Yahoo that you need at least! 10% of those answers to be âbest answers.â It may take weeks of answering a lot in a category so be patient, Rome wasn't built in a day. While I made it to âTop Contributorâ in two weeks of answering regularly in certain categories, I do log on every single day. Itâs harder to make it to Top Contributor if you only log in now and then or, when you log in, you donât answer a ton of questions.Just remember, concentrate your energies on ONE sub-category. Donât answer all categories say, in Health, but concentrate on Alternative Health or Womenâs Health or Menâs Health or Diet and Fitness. PICK ONE SPECIFIC CATEGORY AND STICK WITH IT! The biggest mistake most people make is they spread themselves too thin. Also, donât bother trying to get a badge in Polls & Surveys or in Jokes & Riddles because there are no TCâs in either of those categories....Show more
Lonnie Jehle: To be a TC, you need to show knowledge in one to three different categories, exce! pt Polls & Surveys and Jokes & Riddles. Choose the three you w! ant to be a TC in, and just keep answering in the categories. Ideally, you need ten percent best answer, but I'm not sure, for I've seen people with seventeen percent best answer overall with two TC badges. Whatever it is, you need to prove that you are knowledgeable in a certain category, and the Yahoo! Answers community will allow you to have the badge(s)....Show more
Alisia Sutphen: Yahoo! doesn't tell you. They have some stupid "secret formula" for calculating it, which is ridiculous.
Valentine Michaud: "A "Top Contributor" is a member of the Yahoo Answers community who has shown that they are knowledgeable in a certain category. Each user can be a top contributor in a maximum three categories. You earn it or lose it depending on your recent participation in a certain section. The more positively you contribute, the more chance there is that you will get a TC badge. Just like featured users or category leaders, it's another way to give credit to community mem! bers."The TC badge is awarded on the number of questions answered and best answers received by the user in a particular week, in a particular category. It is rumoured that you need at least a 10 percent best answers in your chosen category to get a TC badge although the actual percentage and the number of answers is Yahoo's secret. All you see and read is speculation, rumour, assumption and guesswork.A user who is on the leader board may or may not have a TC badge, the criteria is measured on weekly participation in a particular category (number of answers and % of best answers in the category). The easiest way to get a TC badge is to concentrate on one category where many questions are asked and hope to get some best answersIf you have contributed enough to meet Yahoo's criteria, the orange badge will appear below your avatar on Monday morning. It can disappear just as easily if you don't keep answering questions in your chosen category....Show more
Marcelina Schossow: ! You have to have at least 10% best answer in a single section. Such as ! 10% best answer in R&S
Foster Padgette: Yahoo! keeps the actual formula under lock and chain, just to make it vaguer so people try harder to achieve the status. In my knowledge, there is no 'level X required' or 'X number of answers' to become top contributor. For example, even me, as I'm level 2 and I've gotten Top Contributor status. So, basically, as others have said, you must have knowledge in a particular subject (everyone does), and answer questions in that sub-category. If you're particularly knowledgeable and have some luck, Top Contributor is in reach from even Level 1. Despite this, some have cheated and (for example), maybe gotten friends to create questions, and answer absolute nonsense with them choosing it as the best answer. If this happens, you'll most likely be at risk of losing your title. Also, just answering a large number of questions in one go to get the status, then leave it will most likely end up with no title. You have to be knowledgeable, and k! eep on contributing to your chosen topic(s). There's a maximum of 3 topics in which you can be a Top Contributor, but your shiny orange badge will show up in any of your answers. But as a precaution, getting this title may ultimately leave you without it, as I know of a few people who have experienced 'contributor prejudice', in which people don't vote for their detailed answers in favor of a shorter, less explained answer just because one has the title and one doesn't. This doesn't happen ALL the time, but it is a precaution.Just be yourself, and answer all the questions you can, as detailed as you can and you'll be sure to be a Top Contributor.Happy Yahoo!ing ! (I hope that's a word... :) )Hongye...Show more
Donald Caravalho: Find a section that you are knowledgeable in and answer a lot of questions. It does not matter what level you are on. Answer the questions the best you can so you can get best answer. Get a certain % of best answers. No one knows exactly what th! e formula is on how yahoo figures who gets the TC badge. You just wait ! until Monday mornings and it is just there. You can also lose your TC badge you do not always get to keep it. It is done week by week. Hope this helps!!!
