If your car is totaled can you get back money that you put in to your car (repairs)?

Rebeca Mckin: They should reimburse you for certain major capital repair items such as transmission rebuild , engine rebuild , purchase of new tires that were not taken off the car . You do not get minor things like lights and windshield wipers

Tawny Grosskreutz: No. All cars require repairs and maintenance, it's part of the cost of driving.

Julee Lanham: You will receive the trade-in value of the car. Not what you owe on the car, not what you think the car is worth. Unless the insurance company agreed to insure any customized options that you put into the car, you won't get that either. You won't get the $2000 repairs either. The repairs brought the car up to blue-book value.

Gerardo Greist: The insurance company are only obliged to offer you the current market value.

Charissa Bichsel: The only value that's added to your vehicle is to show you've maintained the vehicle. Your carrier is not responsible to give you back what it took to keep the! vehicle running and on the road.

Sheldon Lally: I don't think so dear, the best you could do is take all the aftermarket parts you put in your car.....

Annabell Bevier: The insurance company will give you fair market value for your car. Major repairs are just part of ownership. Fair market considers the regional market value for a car in operating condition. If you had upgrades above factory such as premium wheels and sound system, you could ask the insurance company to include that in the estimate. But they will not pay you for repairs.

Dale Mccoun: the insurance company pays book value for car assuming the car is in excellent shape if the car is not you won
