Is it really bad to buy/drive a foreign car?

Marjory Stromme: Foreign cars are much better than cars here. Precision, Performance, safety, features. Like Saabs and Volvos make the safest cars. BMW's make one of the best performance cars with safety in mind, along with Mercedes. American cars just the basic hard plastics and the basics. Sorta like the Japanese and their generic boring cars who really don't care for any of the things the Europeans do with their cars. European cars aren't really the most reliable but they do care about their drivers. Japanese care about reliability, and the Americans just try to compete with their cars, but doesn't work as nicely. Kim Gerbino: Only thing with foreign car are machanics and parts supplies charge a lot more to fix. It all comes down to what is the nearest dealership near you and buy the type of cars they are normally selling. Then it will be cheaper and easier to get repairs.

Jed Porad! a: Yes, it's true. Many "American" cars are actually foreign cars. And many "foreign" cars are build right here in the U.S. in American factories with American workers, and using many American parts. And the "foreign" companies pay U.S. and state taxes. So don't get too hung up on "buying American." It's kind of a dumb position to take when you don't know what it means....Show more
