Ervin Laeger: You can't simply swap registration on a car. The owner has to "sell" the car to you, even if there is no money exchanged. This means he signs over the title to you. You take the title to your local DMV office and get a new title and registration in your name. You will also pay sales tax on the value of the car.
Charissa Riley: If he owes the state and it seems he does. You will have to pay his debts. You are engaged not married.. I woud suggest you take on his debts no matter how big they can be and marry him. No a registation is between one person if you are not a legally married couple. You two are not.
