i really want to be a vegetarian?

Maria Devenney: Don't be stupid, without meat you will die young.

Madie Strople: I use honey, but I'm thinking of going vegan down the road. What would be a natural sugar substitute? I don't want to use white or brown sugar.

Catheryn Small: you need to eat lots of fruits and vegetables also you should eat sot productseat nuts and beans for protein tofu and soy products give you protein you need to eat healthy to lose weight and work outhope I helped :P

Eli Trapeni: Stevia, molasses, agave, gor (hindi) aka jaggery (english) aka piloncillo (Spanish), dates, fruit juiceIt depends on the recipe. I actually just use sugar. It's vegan if you get the raw unrefined kind...I get mine from the mid east store which gets theirs from. Mexico...zulka is the brand I get and can be found in.Mexican stores. What's your issue with sugar? Agave is just as unhealthy as sugar, stevia has the aftertaste that's terrible (if it doesn't then it's highly processed), molasses is a! ctually the healthy stuff they remove from sugar and is high in iron, gor reminds me of brown sugar but is really yummy by itself. If you have a blood sugar issue then you're stuck with the unnatural stuff, since all.the natural.stuff react the same way in your body....even honey. All should be avoided, really, none really deserve the health halo people put around them....Show more

Esteban Faggett: If you want to be a 'healthy' vegetarian, you have to be prepared to eat A LOT of vegetables, beans and fruit, to stay healthy.Vegetarian diets generally lack in iron, so you may want to try eating Spinach, or taking a supplement. If you ever crave meat, eat Quorn meals.Yes, being vegetarian will help you lose weight, and you've made a good choice - Congratulations! :)...Show more

Rubye Bonnin: Stevia is a natural sugar substitute. Sucanat is an unrefined sugar product with many of the nutrients intact, and it has a great nutty texture and flavor. It probably wouldn't ! work for baking a cake though.Agave is a highly refined produc! t and is equivalent to high fructose corn syrup or sugar ... not a health food!...Show more

Francisco Schonhardt: Just replace the protein in your diet. Nuts and beans are great sources of protein. However, you would have to do some combinations to get complete proteins. Peanut butter on wheat bread and rice with beans mixed in are two good examples. Tofu and soy products are complete proteins, so try to eat more of those. As for losing weight, it depends. My dad is overweight even though he is a vegan. You just have to eat healthy to maintain a healthy weight.

Evelin Turlich: Your mother is right, many vegetarians can get sick because they are never replacing the nutrients they need from a normal diet. Is is absolutely essential that you include substitutes for meat protein - by eating nuts, soy bean products, tofu and legumes (like Chickpeas). You also need to eat double because they are still not as high protein than meat. Secondly, meat is high in iron - an! d you can get that in very small amounts from Spinach, dried beans and green leafy vegetables. Unfortunately you will need to eat a large plate- size of these in one day to make up for the iron you need from meat....Show more

Ilana Gaster: I want to know what are acai berries? Is it called by any other name? what are its good qualities, any side effects of consuming these. Are they available in capsule form?savithri

Dan Seen: http://www.veganpeace.com/ingredients/ingredients....This has a full ingredients list that describes various cosmetic and food ingredients that are animal-sourced. Things like lanolin are usually animal fat, vitamin D3 would be from animal fat. Rendered animal fat is an extremely common cosmetic additive. Look for companies that specify that they use all-vegetarian ingredients, or vegan-approved and recommended brands.

Hobert Dula: Stevia. It is 50 times sweeter than sugar, no calories, no glycemic index, completely natural.

Lindsey Zanardi: linolin, stearic acid, glycol, red dye 4, cochineal..heres a good siteveganwolf.com/animal_ingredients.htm

Rosalba Lingner: 1

Lana Uliano: It is only vegan if it has no animal fats in it and that kind of thing. The testing is only part of it. Ingredient list.

Renay Billiar: it might contain lanolin which comes from sheep. some have honey or milk. there are lots of fish oils that may be used. check out the website below.

C! aterina Yeargan: 2

Jacques Vaquera: honestly. this is a serious question. as far as I am concerened apples aren't tortured.

Emerita Sciandra: Splenda is made from sugar it is most like sugar and can be substituted measure for measure.. like 1/4 cup to 1/4 cup. I have been using it for the past couple of years I like it.

Norine Lomonte: I have been vegetarian for 5 years and I love it. I used to get sick all the time when I ate meat (strep 6 times a year) and since I stopped eating meat I haven't gotten sick again. It feels good to know you are helping and making a difference. Depending on what you eat to replace meat you should consider taking vitamin supplements including iron. I don't like tofu so that limits my protein intake. When considering weight loss it depends on what you eat.. I mean.. fries and a soda is veg but its unhealthy. I like boca products alot and they are low in fat. Hope this helps :)...Show more

Roni Kurz: Stevia

Len Bo! rmes: Animals are not born to be foods, wish you a good luck. Oh.. I ga! in weight if I eat too much, though I am a vegetarian

Marielle Hedeiros: ok wow thats A LOT of incredients.. how do you remember them all??

Gordon Showes: food that replaces meat:-beans-milk-yogurt-smoothies-nuts-tofu...Show more

Tana Dumoulin: i usually buy products that are not tested on animals, but i was wondering what it is about the product that makes it not a vegan product... ??

Faustino Mellerson: What if the animal free products are created in labs that use electricity. What if that electricity is generated from river dams which kill fish. Is it still vegan? Because I don't want to kill fish. I love fish. Especially catfish. Yum!

Kalyn Proietto: Agave nectaredit: well, stevia isn't a health food either. Sweeteners are never health foods.

Arnoldo Budzynski: lots of ingredients reading... i buy hair products that specifically say "with plant derived ingredients, no animal testing or ingredients, vegetable based surfactants"

Renato Abatiell: Stevia is definitely the way to go. Stevia Plus is an even better choice. There's a difference between the two in the way they are processed or something. Agave Nectar is also a great alternative. I use it instead of syrup and in place of any kind of sugar or sweetener in recipes.

Ron Keliipio: Hey!! Awesome that you want to become veggie *hugs*Women need 48 grams of protein a day, and it's easy to get without meat! You just have to make sure you are eating the right foods. Here are some foods you can eat to stay healthy:Tofu (look for the low fat, extra firm kind)Beans (lentils, chick peas, any beans)Yogourt, milk, soy milkNuts (though they are quite fattening)It's also important to eat lots of fruits and veggies. Kale is a great vegetable- it has sooo many nutrients. Being a vegetarian can help you lose weight IF you do it in a healthy way. For example, you can't be a skinny vegetarian if you live on fries and cookies. But yes, meat can be very fat! tening and if you replace it with healthy food, you will lose weight!!!! ! good luck!! :D...Show more

Kenneth Blacker: With its steviol glycoside extracts having up to 300 times the sweetness of sugar, stevia has garnered attention with the rise in demand for low-carbohydrate, low-sugar food alternatives. Because stevia has a negligible effect on blood glucose, it is attractive as a natural sweetener to people on carbohydrate-controlled diets.STEVIA comes from plants and is a great substitute for your sugars!!...Show more

Boris Hadsall: I always encourage people to become vegetarians. Make sure you round out your diet with protein, grains/carbs, fruits, vegetables, and dairy. Vegetarian protein sources include: beans, tofu, edamame, nuts, peanut butter, cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt, milk/soy-milk, veggie burgers, ans fake "meat." Thanks for going veg!

Joni Ziak: vegetarians are also barbaic. a helpless apple is hanging from its tree on a sunny day. suddenly, a hand comes out of no where and rips the apple from its tree. then,! the human bits into the apple, eating it alive. the apple can do nothing as its flesh is eaten. finally, the human stops and drops the apple in a trash can. the apples dreams of becoming a tree are destroyed.

Gordon Showes: Stevia might be worth looking into. However it's somewhat hard to find in the States. It's listed as a "dietary supplement" and can usually only be found in health food stores. Then there's sorbitol and xylitol, which are sugar alcohols found naturally in fruits. These are low-cal sweeteners that are also used in sugar-free gum. Most other sugar substitutes are artificially synthesized, like sucralose, saccharin, and aspartame....Show more

Sharie Sommerville: Common Names: Acai Palm, Assai Palm, Cabbage PalmAcai Berry: In Brazilian herbal medicine, the oil of the Acai fruit is used to treat diarrhea; an infusion of the grated fruit rind is used as a topical wash for skin ulcers; and, the fruit seeds are crushed and prepared in an infusion! for fevers. In the Peruvian Amazon, an infusion of the toasted crushed! seeds is used for fever. In Colombia, where the trees grow along the Pacific coast line, it is called naidí and the fruit is turned into a common and popular drinkAcai Juice: Easily the most common use of the Acai fruit by Amazonians is the dark purple juice. Very nutritious juiceHealth benefitsacai berries are amongst the most nutritious foods of the Amazon, rich in B vitamins, minerals, fiber, protein and omega-3 fatty acids. Acai also contains oleic acid (omega-9), a beneficial fatty acid (often mistakenly referred to as essential). Some of the claims being made for Acai drink are extraordinary ... including weight loss and the lowering of cholesterol and curing of cancer. P.s.you may as well eat a few dozen red grapes or perhaps black currants, or blackberries each day as pay for an exorbitantly priced bottle of Acai juice drink which will have little or no effect on your health......Show more
