Jonelle Eligio: So first, you do not start building credit until you are 18. That is why no one will check you.Second, if you go with something like Ghettro Metro PCS you are getting what you pay for. The 55 or 65 bucks a month with no tax is going to get you the #5, 6 or 7 carrier in your area. The internet speed compared to VZ or ATT is like comparing a Honda CBR 600 Motorcycle to a horse. All these carriers have 4G, but VZ and ATT still blow most of the other carriers out of the water. For a 17 year old with no credit these plans will work well because you are not really tied down to anything. As for the phones on these plans, they used to be terrible, second rate brands. Now a days companies like Ghettro Metro and Virgin are getting the iPhone, so just be prepared to pay the 600+ dollars for the phone out of contract. If you want a middle ground for service and price, go with T-mobile Prepaid packages. They have plans like Metro and Virgin with a flat rate per month an! d a phone out of contract, but are backed by Tmobile's coverage. TMO rates #2-#3 throughout the states (I'm in the Bay Area and they are #2) and their are not as fast as ATT and VZ in terms of 4G but are next in line. Hope this info helps!...Show more
Rayford Latz: Any prepaid from a big carrior is good, verizon of cource is the best then att sprint and tmobile. Boost mobile and virgin mobile use sprints network, net 10 uses verizons network. Tmobile has the best phones since you can bring any GSM phone.good luck
Jinny Dronen: As for no-contract plans, they typically use the same cellular towers as the contract plans assuming they are with the same company. AT&T GoPhone Pay As You Go handsets talk to the same cell towers as the AT&T contract phones so reliability, coverage and speed should be the same. You cannot get a cellphone contract until you are 18. Only adults can sign legally binding contracts. You have *no* credit history. You can't since you are a minor ! and aren't legally responsible for paying bills, etc. Even on ! your eighteenth birthday, you will have no credit. You should go to the cellular store and ask to sign a contract, but they will check your credit (which will show no history). They will then ask you to fork over a deposit which they will eventually return to you once you'd consistently paid your bill....Show more
Toby Women: Prepaid phones use the same towers that postpaid phones use. If you get a Tracfone/Net10/Straight Talk phone the kind of phone you have (CDMA,GSM,Android) will determine what post paid providers towers you use.I have used prepaid cell phones for 11 years. I switched to Verizon for 2 years and went back to exclusivly using my Net10 phone as soon as my Verizon contract was up. I have the same exact service with using Net10 as I did with using Verizon....Show more
