Jorge Detlefs: It's not. It's just been marketed well. Many young adults grew up with cable TV and think that is just the way TV works (I see that all the time on this board). Now that the economy is bad, people are rediscovering antennas and switching to alternatives like satellite.
Maynard Reevers: I'm not sure what you're asking.I myself do not prefer cable TV.I am seriously considering a strict return to FREE TV -- recieving only what is provided free over-the-air.I have a Direct Broadcast Satellitie system (DBS;meaning DirecTV or DISH Network.)Although I have to admit I have this because Ilive in a place cable does not go.I also have DBS because the service I use has special channels I like that are not usually on Cable.Advantages of Cable:Cheaper up-front installation cost vs. Satellite.Internet too (additional charge, fast speed. But- slows down when all your neighbors are on too.)Relatively reliable.Disadvantages of Cable:May not be available where you li! ve.Channel selection may be limited. Not as much HD as satellite.Either Cable or Satellite can become expensive as you add channels or features.Consider FREE TV. The picture is excellent. There is more programming than before, although still not as much as a pay service.....Show more
Garry Ohmen: cable TV means cable wire not channels.
Houston Venezia: more channels then freeview
